INDIKÒN is a service by INQOVA to digitise denim fabrics in order to foster a more efficient and sustainable way of exchanging information about denim fabrics from the initial point of the supply chain.
Denim fabrics are not like other fabrics, especially with the variety of shares, fades and slubs. It also involves fabric mills, garment factories, laundries and retail. In this vast physical supply chain, exchanging information about denim fabric is long and complicated. To understand a denim fabric, we are used to having close examinations. During the pandemic, this was seriously affected — the delays of physical transport hindered sales and product development.
INQOVA acknowledged the problem and started tackling it by partnering with Bandicoot, a Sydney-based digital imaging company. We pushed the envelope by changing the industry from fabric mills. We decided to develop an affordable way to digitise denim fabrics. In the future, with a click to a link, different stakeholders in the supply chain, from denim laundries to denim designers, can have access to high definition 3D image of the denim fabric. It immensely reduces the workforce and physical resources or unnecessary fabric waste, especially in sampling garments. With support to other digital rendering software, our files powered digital designers to create digital garment collections more real-life.
The naming and brand identity we designed has equipped INDIKÒN to communicate better and easier for people in the denim industry.
By rethinking the denim industry fundamentally, we look back at the original denim dye, indigo. Inspired by the Ancient Greek word, 'indikòn' for indigo, we can see that the dyeing process has developed a great deal since the birth of the first pair of denim jeans.
The design concept of the brand is to emphasise the digital transformation of denim. Pixel by pixel, we create high-quality 3D denim fabrics.
The brand is about technology, challenging the status quo, dynamic and constantly looking at the future.
As a service under INQOVA, we are inspired by the company's branding and the idea of 'pixel'. So we created a brand identity that able to communicate technology under the influence of INQOVA uniquely. We applied INDIKÒN's visual language across the website, socials and PR materials with that in mind.
INDIKÒN's branding materials successfully communicated the brand ethos visually across different channels. In addition, it has raised awareness with the press coverage across Fashion United, Sourcing Journal and Simply Suzette.
INDIKÒN aims to foster a more efficient and sustainable way of exchanging information about denim fabrics. We named and designed INDIKON's brand identity to portray the flexibility and pixel-perfect technology.
